ADULT CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS:  Men's Singles: 1. Rich Lively  2. Tom Londergan   Ladies' Doubles: 1. Therese Waltz/Rose Wettstein  2. Carol Ludlow/Martha Oswalt   Mixed Doubles: 1. Rich Lively/Jane Bentz  2. Pete & Therese Waltz

Our final two women's events of the summer---the LADIES' MEMBER-GUEST EVENT on Wednesday September 3 with 18 participants, and the  LADIES' END-OF-SEASON ROUND ROBIN on Wednesday the 10th---capped a successful women's season highlighted by our WOMEN'S FRIENDLY MIXERS. Thanks to all who participated throughout the summer.

On our MEN'S MEMBER-GUEST EVENT on Tuesday the 9th of September, we played a round robin with Dale Barclay's City of La Crosse team.  Scott Blanke, Denny Ford, Tom Londergan, Rich Lively, Dave McCarthy and Herb Ross all played; we hope to do this several times again next summer.

Our two late summer school events---the LA CROSSE DIOCESAN INVITE HOSTED BY AQUINAS on August 28th and the LCC HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' TRIPLE DUAL HOSTED BY ONALASKA HS on September 13th---gave us the opportunity to meet young people and families from other parts of the state, and to show them our beautiful Club. Thanks to coaches Kevin Roop and Kurt Gutknecht whose schools organized these superb events. A special congratulations to Sara Kessler for co-ordinating so many activities in the Aquinas tournament; and to Jim and Rose Wettstein, who hosted the 6-team Players' Party in the same event.

And our successful junior instructional program finished the season with 105 different students. Our Children's Avtivity Co-ordinator escorted the youngest ones from the pool to the tennis courts, then played tennis-related games with them to fill the gap between their two different classes; we'll continue this program next summer.

We'll still leave boxes of balls outside the Tennis Pro Shop: they're for member use on our courts--to practice, to drill or to hit serves. And...we also have some that we can give away: if you'd like some for your own use, or for a school, assisted living center, etc., please let us know.
